The work will allow the transport of 50,000 cubic meters from the Port of Montevideo to the refinery, saving on logistics.
The National Administration of Fuels, Alcohol and Portland (Ancap) awarded its tender for the construction of a pipeline that would go from Port of Montevideo to the La Teja Refinerywith the objective of lowering logistics costs due to the generation of a new route of entry and exit of fuels to the Uruguay.

The resolution was published on March 31 and ended up awarding the work to the only company that applied for the tender after carrying out price negotiations. This will cost Ancap, with the costs of construction and operation of the pipeline, about 46 million dollars, to which VAT will be added, for the year 2039, according to the Montevideo Portal.

This will allow Ancap to save up to 4 million dollars because the transportation of 50,000 cubic meters of fuel, currently require five trips from the port of Montevideo to the La Teja refinery.
The losses of La Teja
Between the month of September and December, Ancap will lose 200 million dollars due to repairs and remodeling that will suffer the La Teja refinery, which will imply the total shutdown of the plant and the consequent affectation of production. The loss will be greater than originally projected, since in February Ancap had established that amount at 72 million dollars.
In addition, the tasks in La Teja will not take three months, but between four and five, hence the costs for the state oil company have increased. Ancap must, during that period, import the fuel. It will do so through tenders with the aim of maintaining the amount of production in reserve that the company always has.
The provider is probably trafiguraone of the world’s largest companies in the sector, which handles more than 6 million barrels of fuel per day and which, in the past, has already sold to the state company at a competitive price.
