The preparations for the Daffodil Festival, which is taking place in the Ausseerland for the 63rd time this year, are in full swing. Which flower sculptures will be put in this year? How many helpers are needed to pick the well-known star daffodil? Many logistical decisions will be made for the festival weekend on June 1-4.
One of the most important decisions for the Daffodil Festival will be made in Bad Aussee on Saturday, May 6th: Who will be the new Daffodil Queen of the Year 2023 and who will represent the Ausseerland together as Daffodil Princesses at her side. A difficult decision that a jury – consisting of members of the Narzissenfestverein, the media partners and some more – has to make.
Application for casting
It is not yet known how many young women between the ages of 18 and 30 have submitted their candidacy for the office of daffodil sovereignty. They can all score at the casting on May 6th with natural charisma, quick-wittedness, eloquence, composure and with their love for traditional costumes and especially for the Ausseerland Salzkammergut. “What I can only recommend to all applicants: stay authentic during the casting and just enjoy it. As a Highness, you experience the Narcissus Festival in a completely different way”says the reigning daffodil queen Lisa Weinhandl from Bad Aussee.
Whoever runs the race for the crown of daffodils will remain a secret until the coronation evening on June 1st. In the weeks leading up to the coronation, the new highnesses are expected to have a number of appointments in Bad Aussee, among other things to adapt the traditional Ausseer dirndl perfectly to the young women.

Applications can be submitted by post or online at narzissenfest.at/horechte until April 28th. A CV, two photos and a few lines about the motivation for the application are also required.
