The union group of one of the companies in charge of bottling supergas explained that if temperatures continue to drop, there could be a shortage due to the increase in demand.

Regarding this, Guichón explained that it is “the first measure that was taken after the layoffs 10 days ago.” Acodike fired 27 workers and, according to the spokesperson, from the union they have prepared work proposals, but from the company there is no willingness to negotiate.

On the other hand, he stressed that Ministry of Labor the conflict with Acodike exceeded it and that is why they are looking for people who want to collaborate. In this sense, the union will be received by the Parliamentary Labor Law Committee this Wednesday to bring up the issue of the conflict, the salaries and the clauses that were not respected. Added to this, the union will participate in a mobilization of workers from public companies.

After the dismissals, the company hired the same number of people to cover the shortage of people who were engaged in union actions, something that the union understands as a “provocation” and rated it as “illegal”.

The Riogas situation

Negotiations with Riogas are, for now, totally stops. Last week, the president of the Uruguayan Federation of Commerce and Services Employees (Fuecys), flavio riveron established that there is 11 workers dismissed who want to rejoin the company and that is why they will ask the Ministry of Labor for a meeting for this week with the aim of being able to negotiate.

According to the president of Fuecys, in Riogas the situation is more complicated because 26 workers were fired, of which almost the same amount was incorporated into the plant outsourced. Something that, according to Riverón, makes it clear that personnel were needed in a second shift.
