Behind the collapse of a building last Sunday in Marseillethe rescuers today found the last two bodies that remained missing. The accident left a total of eight fatalitiesas announced by the authorities.

The prosecutor’s office reported that all the victims have already been identified and continues to uphold the “the hypothesis of a gas explosion” as the cause of the tragedy.

The explosion reduced the four-story, five-apartment building at 17 Tivoli Street in the city center to rubble. An adjoining building, at number 15, also partially collapsed.
At the time of collapse, around 200 people were preventively evacuated from nearby buildings. As of Tuesday, only four of the victims had been identified: a 74-year-old man and a woman, who were a couple, and two women, 65 and 88.
The last four identified are a couple in their thirties and another in their eighties.
