They represented 22% of the total exports of services from Uruguay, being the ones that grew the most.
government agency Uruguay XXI published the Report Exports of Services 2022, where it can be seen that the sector of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) It is the second service that exported the most last year, after the business sector.

According to the report, exported global services grew by 15% year-on-year in 2022. Of this total, 23% corresponded to business, the 22% to ICTs6% to financial, and 2% to “others”.


ICT sector exports grew by twenty% until totaling the 1,172 million dollarswhere 959 million were from the IT sector of software & ITOwhile 213 million dollars brought by telecommunications. In turn, the ICT sector represented 22% of Uruguay’s service exports.
Sales of business services had a year-on-year rise of 13%, up to a total of 1,272 million dollars, representing 23% of exports of services. For their part, financial services increased slightly by 5% after exporting 325 million dollars and representing 6% of total services sold.
Forecasts for the first quarter of 2023
The Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU) published a new report in March, prepared by the IT Observatory of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) in which a sample of 15 partner companies is exposed, among which 60% valued their closing projection for this first quarter as “very good”, and 27% as “good”, totaling a 87% optimism level compared to 13% of the rest, who expect a “regular” closure.
The Logistics, Platforms and ICT (Information Technology) segments were the most positive for the remainder of the year, as had occurred in the previous report. Along the same lines, the digital business sector showed a 93% optimism, with 60% placing the closure as “good”, and 33% as “very good”. Only 7% answered that it would be “regular”.
