In a Europe-wide tender, the order for the combat boots for the Austrian army was won, the managing partner, Horst König, announced in a broadcast. Production has just started in the Romanian plant.
Because other orders could also be won, the staff is in the process of being increased, 30 became 40, and more are being sought. “In the end, the capacity, that is the staff, should be increased by 45 to 50 percent,” says König. Then 40,000 pairs of safety shoes per year are to be manufactured, mostly by hand.
The order includes “tens of thousands” of pairs of combat boots over the contract period of three years plus two optional years. König is not allowed to give more details.
