The house caught fire around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, probably due to a deflagration in the area of the oil furnace. The 82-year-old noticed a strong development of smoke and flames in the area of the stove, then she fled the house. She was covered in soot and received first aid from her neighbors before being taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr by the ambulance for treatment. While the accident ended lightly for the woman, a cat could not be saved.
A total of 31 forces from the Kronstorf and Hargelsberg fire brigades were involved in the operation. The Harr-Landesstraße was completely closed on a two-kilometer section until 6:30 p.m.
