A new edition of Point Show, that brings together the most select of the audiovisual industry, content production and new technologieswill be held at the Enjoy Hotel in east point the days 27 and 28 of this month, although it can also be followed by streaming.
Maria Sotohead of the Isos Group, advanced ambito.com the themes to be addressed in the event, where the impact generated by the digital platforms in the new consumption of entertainment, but also other prominent topics such as freedom of expression.
– What details will this new edition of Punta Show have?
– The entertainment industry has not stopped growing, especially in the generation of content and in the new ways of viewing that content. We, for example, already had international channels participating in the event, as in the case of paramount, Disney and other companies that today come with news. And not only through the same television signals as we were used to, but also through other platforms, such as the case of twitchwhich has been essential for the growth of some of the content.
Many people continue to watch television in the traditional way, but there is a lot of content that is now on other platforms and that our children only watch there. It is about those development tools that we are going to be talking about specifically.
– Digital piracy has also been a prominent topic in previous meetings. How will it be treated this time?
– In the event will be the directory of Certal (Center for Telecommunications Policy Studies), which brings together companies and regulators from all over Latin America. They will be participating Ursec From Uruguay, enacom of Argentina and representatives of various countries.
Today the great concern that the largest operators have is the attempts that they make to regulate those illegal transmissions that are not new. Piracy has always existed and many say that it will continue to exist, but these attempts to regulate illegal transmissions lead to blockades looking for solutions.
Dialogue tables will be set up so that the different actors can exchange ideas on how to achieve these blockades, of which some are in favor and others not so much. Blocking pirate websites has been very effective in significantly reducing access to infringing content, but nevertheless from a human rights perspective, such as the impact on freedom of expression and access to information, some questions arise when analyzing this new initiative.
– What other events of this magnitude does the Isos Group plan to hold in the region?
– Now, after Punta del Este, we will have a meeting in Asunción del Paraguayan, which is already a classic and will be in August. Then, finally, in November, the Chile Media Show, which is also an event that brings together the entire television and telecommunications industry in Santiago de Chile. So good, we will continue touring Latin America.
On this occasion, for example, television operators from bolivian (RedUno), Paraguay (Telefuro) and Ecuador (TeleAmazon). All operators who are looking for production opportunities here in Uruguay. The idea is to be able to make alliances to generate original content at the Latin American level, presenting Uruguay as a international production hub.
