Wolfgang Steiger prevailed against six competitors at the hearing and became managing director of the municipal housing association GWG Linz alongside Nikolaus Stadler. Wolfgang Pfeil turns 65 and retires. He has been Managing Director of GWG since 2010. “On behalf of the City of Linz, the GWG, but also all employees and tenants, I would like to thank Wolfgang Pfeil for his many years of service and the always professional and friendly cooperation,” says GWG Supervisory Board Chairman City Councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP).
Steiger was already considered a favourite
Steiger, currently still city party manager of the ÖVP in Linz, already has experience as a member of the supervisory board of the GWG. The decision is no surprise. The OÖN already reported in February that Steiger is the most promising candidate for the position, especially since the position is on an ÖVP ticket.
Succession in city party open
It is still unclear who will succeed Steiger as managing director of the Linz People’s Party. There are several qualified candidates, says Vice Mayor Martin Hajart, chairman of the VP. He will convene the committees at the weekend.
