Blau-Weiss Linz will soon be able to fall back on their most important player in the promotion race of the 2nd soccer league: Matthias Seidl should soon be available again.

A torn syndesmosis ligament had slowed down the 22-year-old offensive player, but in the past few days the twelve-time goal scorer has returned to training. In return, Blau-Weiss will have to do without two other players for a longer period of time: the midfielders Marco Krainz (torn muscle fiber) and Alexander Briedl (torn ankle ligaments) will be out for several weeks.

Four contract extension by option

Manuel Maranda, Tobias Koch and Danilo Mitrovic were tied to the club beyond the season. At Paul Mensah, the option only applies to promotion to the Bundesliga. Blue and white had options for the four kickers that were drawn on yesterday’s deadline. With other kickers, on the other hand, the option of an early contract extension was missed. But that doesn’t mean that they no longer have a future with the Linzers – the club simply wants to wait and see how the season progresses. “Of course, the players have the opportunity to continue to show themselves and we will decide later – also taking into account the league affiliation,” says BW managing director Christoph Peschek.
