The dollar approaches the month in the range of 38 pesos

In the first 13 days of the month, the US currency showed slight variations both downwards and upwards. Although it remains stable with a positive cumulative variation of 0.26%, it is far from neutralizing the 3.25% fall in January, paid for by the 0.63% drop in March.

On Thursday, the dollar closed its price with a rise of 0.27% compared to Wednesday and remained at 38,749 pesos for the interbank rate of the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU). While on the blackboard Bank Republic (BROU), was offered at 37.6 pesos for purchase and 40 pesos for sale. On the other hand, the preferential value of the eBROU dollar it was at 38.1 pesos for the purchase and 39.5 pesos for the sale.

The currency has been in the 38-peso range for more than three weeks, in which it has not been since February and since then it has not managed to exceed the 39-peso threshold. It is now just over $0.26 away from it.

Thus, compared to last March 13, the registered monthly variation is 1.48% in red. Almost a month ago, on March 16, the dollar touched its maximum in two monthsbut from there, a sharp downward path began.

So far in 2023, the foreign currency accumulates a fall of 3.30%. While, compared to the same day in 2022, when the exchange rate was 41.247 pesos, the year-on-year variation is -6.05%.

The year-on-year indicator fell sharply in recent weeks mainly because, by early 2022, the dollar had already started to fall after touching the historical peaks that he had registered in the first weeks of that year. Meanwhile, now, the year-on-year variation remains balanced and collapses every time the dollar rises.
