Bolsonaro must testify for the attempted coup in Brazil

The Federal Supreme Court ordered the Federal Police to take a statement from the former president.

He Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil, the country’s highest judicial instance, ordered that the Police summon the former president in no more than 10 days Jair Bolsonaro so that to listen to his version on the attack on institutions on January 8 by thousands of followers of the ex-president.

Bolsonaro’s hearing request had been made by the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), reviewed the news site O Globo.

On January 10, two days after the attacks, the Attorney General’s Office made the request based on a video posted on social networks in which Bolsonaro once again questioned the result of the elections.

In the investigators’ assessment, The message seemed like a sign that the ex-president was encouraging the acts of invasion of the buildings of the three powers.

In his resolution, De Moraes wrote that the declaration constitutes “an essential measure for the complete clarification of the facts investigated,” reported the state Agencia Brasil.
