“Writing letters should become modern again and bring joy to everyday life,” agree the Steyr Community Nurses and representatives from the St. Anna elementary school. For this reason, the nurses, together with school director Ulrike Silber and class teacher Claudia Siessl, launched the “pigeon mail” campaign. From now on, pen pals will be supported and organized between children in the 4c class who love to write and seniors from Steyr. “Who remembers what it used to be like to receive a letter that you were eagerly awaiting?” Community Nurse Erika Schober brings back memories. A feeling that the younger generation no longer knows. The children of the private elementary school St. Anna are nevertheless enthusiastic about this idea and look forward to writing the dove “Clementina” on their self-designed stationery. They are curious about the answers and life stories of older people. “Handwriting is brain writing,” says Community Nurse Stephan Pascher, describing the benefits of this campaign for the older generation. Interested seniors from Steyr should please call (07252) 81777-593 or -592.
