The newspapers Le Figaro and Le Point, quoted by the Europa Press agency, reported that Le Pen was hospitalized this afternoon after suffering an ailment while he was at his home in the Parisian commune Rueil-Malmaison, in Hauts-de-Seine.

“A great fatigue, perhaps of a cardiac nature, justifies his immediate hospitalization by decision of his doctors,” explained a friend of Le Pen quoted by Le Point.
Le Pen had last been hospitalized in February last year after a transient ischemic attack, a mild form of stroke.
Once that trance was overcome, the historic far-right leader did not show any concrete sign of weakness and even received the press to give interviews until last week.
He was a candidate for the French Presidency five times, but has not held any position of responsibility since leaving his seat in the European Parliament in 2019.
Le Pen was president of the National Front from 1972 until 2011, when he was succeeded by his daughter, Marine.
In 2002, he qualified for the second round of the presidential elections against Jacques Chirac, but lost with 17.8% of the vote. He was honorary president of the party until 2018, despite his exclusion two years earlier.
