This weekend the Autódromo Internacional reopened “Eduardo P. Cabrera”, of the city of Rivera, with remodeling in the pits and with two important events for the promotion of tourism in the city reaching the 100% of hotel occupancy.
The event took place this weekend on the second date of the Formula Truck 2023 Brazil, to which is added the activity of the Jump Automobile Club (SAC)which starts the season’s Track Tourism Championship.

Remodeling and the importance of tourism
On this occasion, the recently built part of the boxes was inaugurated, in which there is a medical center for first attention in case of accidents, in accordance with the requirements of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), represented in Uruguay by the Automobile Club of Uruguay (ACU).
To this is added a set of 21 boxes built with a reinforced concrete structure and covered with a metal structure and self-supporting sheet metal. The area of these boxes is approximately 68m² each and will accommodate vehicles of any category, from motorcycles to Truck category trucks. As well as a metal structure walkway from the pit area to the public area, where the competition control tower is located.
The works were financed by the Departmental Administration of Rivera and also by the Ministry of Tourism with an amount of 250 thousand dollars. Viera highlighted the importance of the works and remarked that more quality to the place and allows to obtain competitions of a higher international level. “Auto racing drives a high economic level throughout the world and that benefits us in Uruguay and in the northern region,” remarked the Minister of Tourism.
According to the minister, this renovation of the autodrome will bring more events and higher caliber that will not only benefit the automobile sector, but also the tourism sector, especially in areas such as hotels, gastronomy, commerce, services, as well as all those that benefit from the generation of employment given by the hiring of local labor, for the different events that take place.
Other improvements in Rivera
The binational airport Rivera between Uruguay and Brazil it is also part of the modernizations that the city will have. From the Ministry of Transport and Public Works They announced that the terminal will be modernized and will have the latest technology.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Juan Jose OlaizolaHe announced that there are already companies interested in operating at the airport. “It has already aroused interest from a regional airline to be able to operate,” Olaizola remarked. According to the undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, two possibilities open up at the airport: passenger transport, but also cargo transport.
