The social security reform has turned the Uruguayan political system upside down, while more than half of the population confirms that they are poorly informed about the bill that has anxious Lacalle Pou for a quick approval.

According to an interview with the director of Public Opinion and Social Studies of Opción ConsultoresRafael Porzecanski, to the Telenoche television channel, the population is not “enough informed” about the bill.

The percentage of people who are very informed or quite informed is the 22% of Uruguayans, that is, one in five citizens. On the other hand, people who claim to be poorly informed belong to 53% of the population, while the 23% say they are not informed. With this, 76% of the total population says they know little or nothing about the most important reform promoted by the government of Lacalle Pou.

As for the electorate of the Broad Front, among those who decide to take a position, they are totally against it, according to the director of Opción Consultores. On the other hand, within the coalition voters, opinions are divided since the 36% approve the reform and the 28% disapprove.

According to Porzekanski, the bill became a “coalition headache” and that the coalition is currently “at its most difficult moment” since its formation.

The director of the consultation put on the table the difference between an armed coalition to govern and an autonomous political party where it is easier to make a unanimous decision. “It is clearly shown that it is different to be a coalition party or a party of sectors how is he broad front where it is easier to reach an agreement than to be a coalition of parties that have different programmatic and ideological identities on the one hand, but on the other hand electoral objectives that are not entirely confluent,” he explained.
