Piñera also called for continuing with the national vaccination plan as a measure to avoid deaths and hospitalizations due to coronavirus.
“Every day we are going to be tougher and more demanding for everyone to get vaccinated,” acknowledged the president, who said that “only then will we be able to overcome the pandemic.”
Piñera said it in the middle of the launch of the “10th SME Week” together with the Minister of Economy, Lucas Palacios, from the Palacio de La Moneda.
Chile comes with an increase in numbers of the pandemic, with a record in the last 24 hours of 1,677 new infections and 16 deaths, the Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported on its website.
With these new figures, Chile has accumulated 1,683,451 infected and 37,685 deaths since the pandemic began, in March of last year.
Regarding the crisis of hospitalized patients, 443 people admitted to intensive care units were reported, of which 353 are connected to mechanical ventilation.
Regarding the vaccination plan, 13,596,592 people inoculated with two doses are registered.
