After the killing of a guard on Epiphany in the Wiener Neustadt airfield barracks, the Federal Criminal Police Office’s bulletin report is available. “It is currently being checked whether the previous investigative steps are sufficient or whether further investigations, such as a crime reconstruction, are necessary,” confirmed Markus Bauer, spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt, on Tuesday in response to an APA request from a “Kurier” online report. Bauer did not comment on the content of the report. The results of the expert report should correspond to the previous results of the surveys. The 20-year-old was shot dead with a pistol by his 54-year-old boss. According to the results of the autopsy, the young man died of a bullet through the chest. According to “Kurier”, the 54-year-old’s service weapon was fired three times. The other two bullets are said to have hit the guard station. The 20-year-old’s assault rifle was not shot.
Opinion supports statements
The officer of the day is said to have tried to calm the 20-year-old after an argument. The basic military servant is said to have hit the 54-year-old with the barrel of the assault rifle and pointed the gun at his superior. The soldier testified that, lying injured on the ground, he fired a shot in self-defense at the recruits bent over him, the “Kurier” reported. This also coincides with the shooting report and the autopsy result. Accordingly, the shot channel ran from below at an angle of about 45 degrees. According to the reconstruction, the shot was fired “against the standing recruit from a position lying on the ground,” it said.
According to a toxicological report, the 20-year-old consumed cannabis, ecstasy and antidepressants in the weeks leading up to Epiphany. According to “Kurier”, on the morning of January 6 he was not affected by it due to the low concentration.
An emergency defense situation is assumed. The 54-year-old is at large.
