Eros Walter Luciano Ramazzotti is said to have made it far as a football player. Honestly, what’s the point of wasting such a beautiful name on top scorer stats, especially since the young man has great talent as a musician and an unmistakable, flattering voice (which has been shown to be particularly beneficial to the female ear canal). With his Canzones d’Amore, the respectable Eros has actually made a world career, he has sold around 70 million records to date.
And it seems that the feschak from Rome also has outstanding genetic material. Almost 11,000 people in the Wiener Stadthalle were happy to be convinced of the visual, physical and vocal juvenility of the 59-year-old on Monday evening. Supported by a fantastic band from which the bodily drummer Eric Moore stands out, the eternally fit Roman fulfills all the expectations of his fans.
But first he starts with three tracks from his new album “Battito Infinito” (infinite loop). What is surprising is the sound, which is far removed from the cuddle song genre, and the messages played on the screen. Ramazzotti shows lush nature and landscape images that must be rigorously preserved. A motto by Albert Camus also appears larger than life: “Peace is the only battle worth fighting.” There’s something to it.
Natural potential for languor
Then he switches to the compulsory program from his extensive ouevre, he catches the audience with “Dove c’è musica”, “Quanto amore sei” and “Un’emozione per semper”. Now Eros is in his element. He lets himself fall into the audience, walks his butt wobbling over the stage construction, gives an autograph, takes off his jacket to Joe Cocker’s “You can leave your hat on”. The envy could eat if this natural potential for languor.
Apart from this image care, Eros Ramazzotti shows again and again what a brilliant musician is. His e-guitar solos correspond to those of his great colleagues and when he picks up the acoustic guitar he improvises to his heart’s content. With “Terra Promessa” (the song that launched Ramazzotti’s international career in 1984), “Una Storia Importante”, “Adesso tu” and “Cose della Vita” the multi-talented Italian enthuses his audience without exertion.
A concert that you should have seen and heard, just not in this exuberant volume.
