The mayor was consulted at a press conference about his position regarding a possible candidacy for the presidency, pending the decision of the Broad Front in December of this year and the subsequent internal ones in 2024. Faced with this, Orsi assured that , if elected by the party to carry out the candidacy, he would leave the mayor’s office since “He doesn’t think it’s very compatible.”
“There is a history of mayors who went to the inmates without resigning, I think it is not very compatible, we have to see what the moment is… for me it is the day things are formalized,” he explained. For his part, he added that he does not want to rush because decisions “they are taken after Congress empowers us, if it enables us”.
On the other hand, he assured that his name is not the only one that is put on the table in the Broad Front. “Today ours are names that take to the field, like others that will be considered at the time by the political force, and they will put us there or not, and then they will see the citizens,” he remarked. Among the possible pre-candidates for the FA are the mayor of Montevideo, Caroline Cossethe senator, Mario Bergara and the mayor of Salto, Andres Limaalthough they do not yet have political support within the party.
