He eCommerce Daythe event that brings together leaders of the Latin American digital ecosystem and that will have its 2023 edition in Uruguay in August, disembarks in Chili between the 26th and 28th of this month, with the aim of professionalizing the protagonists of online businesses in the region.
The event, organized by the eCommerce Institute Next to the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS)will have an innovative agenda on the digital industry, through live conferences and practical workshops focused on Unified Commerce, Web3, Collaborative Commerce, Social Selling, among other topics.
“Chile is positioned as one of the five most important markets in the field of digital commerce in Latin Americafacing this year the challenge of maintaining a balance to continue growing with profitability and sustainability”, he stated. Marcos PueyrredonPresident of the eCommerce Institute and CoFounder & Global Executive SVP of VTEX.
The Chilean digital ecosystem remains active despite the deceleration observed since mid-2022, with an average of 13% due to the return of face-to-facephysical sales, the impact inflationary global, the increase in interest rates and the decrease in emergency subsidies and pension withdrawals.
For his part, George Lever, CCS Studies Manager, highlighted that “during the last 3 years we have seen a massive arrival of companies and consumers to e-commerce in Chile. An unprecedented move.”
In 2020, the online trade of goods in Chile doubled, in 2021, combining goods and services, sales touched 12,000 million dollars for the first time and e-commerce consolidated its double-digit share of total sales. Last year, as a result of the country’s condition and the post-strong growth adjustment, online sales of goods had their first setback in history, but those of services managed to recover at rates of even 90%.
“This year we are preparing for a second semester of reactivation, with great movement in the payment methods and logistics market, and the incorporation of new innovations, a large part of them in the field of artificial intelligence. Each time we see our market closer to true omnichannel, and some of the milestones this year will allow us to move definitively towards that goal, “said Lever.
