Fox reached a judicial agreement for US7.5 million with a voting machine company

Following the 2020 US presidential election, Fox News took aim at Dominion Voting Systems for rigging the vote. The company sued the media outlet for defamation and before going to trial, they reached an agreement today.

Fox Corp and Fox News had been sued by Dominion Voting Systemsvoting machine company, for defamation and reached an agreement this Tuesday for 787.5 million dollars. In this way, one of the largest communication companies in the world avoided going to trial for having made false accusations of vote rigging in the 2020 United States election.

The agreement was announced by Fox, Dominion and the judge in the case at the last minute, when a 12-person jury had been selected Tuesday morning and opening statements were about to begin. Dominion had requested 1,600 million dollars in damages in the lawsuit filed in 2021, presided over by Judge Eric Davis of the Delaware Superior Court in Wilmington.

Fox had been denounced for accusing the voting machine company of rigging the elections 2020 presidential elections. Dominion argued that the company was caused “Enormous and irreparable economic damage”.

the deal saves Fox the risk of having some of its best-known figures called to the stand and subjected to questioning, including executives such as Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old media mogul who chairs Fox Corp, and Fox CEO Suzanne Scott, as well as hosts such as Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro.
