Apparently a bear is going around in the Tyrolean Lech Valley. According to media reports in Stanzach, the predator was captured by a wildlife camera. The bear is said to have used a wild feeding station and killed a roebuck. The skeleton has been found and is now being examined for DNA evidence, it said. The bear is said not to have caused any further damage to livestock for the time being. The predator is said to have been active in the area on both Monday and Tuesday, the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” reported.
Brown bears in the Montafon
According to their own statements, two brown bears observed walkers on Wednesday morning in Gortipohl in the Montafon. This was reported by the police, who were immediately notified by the women. The bears disappeared around 7.30 a.m. in the “Schattenort” area shortly after the sighting in the dense forest. Police and hunters found two animal footprints that could not be clearly assigned, but it was not immediately possible to say whether they came from bears.
The women were out and about in Schattenort with their dogs, one of them told ORF Radio Vorarlberg. First, three deer suddenly ran from a meadow into the forest. Then she saw the two bears. They stopped and yelled. Out of fear, the women immediately fled to a garage. There are no photos or videos.

What is happening to Gaia?
Recently, a bear case in Trentino caused a stir and shock. Two weeks ago, a problem bear attacked and killed a 26-year-old jogger in the northern Italian province. Meanwhile, “Gaia” has been captured. A court must clarify what happens to her. A launch order has been temporarily suspended.
The fate of the bear splits Italy. While 63 mayors of Trentino municipalities agree with Governor Maurizio Fugatti’s call for the bear to be killed, animal rights activists and celebrities have launched a campaign to save JJ4.
The animal protection association Oipa published an online petition to save the bear on the Change.org platform. In just a few hours, 60,000 signatures were collected on Wednesday. The petition asks Fugatti and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the “immediate release” of bear JJ4 so that she can “return to her cubs and be saved from being shot”.
Video: Wildlife expert Klaus Hackländer explains, among other things, whether the EU reintroduction project for bears in Trentino and South Tyrol has failed.
