The economic and institutional stability of the Uruguay was the main reason for this Chilean investment group to go out and offer the small and beautiful Garzon Town in Europe. The project involves three main points: development of farms, private neighborhoods and purchase of fields for agricultural-livestock businesses.
Carlos Pinto and Jose Tomas FernandezResponsable of Punto Investment Groupthey detailed in dialogue with scope.com how will the millionaire investment be made minutes from East Point.
Carlos Pinto- When we decided to somehow entice Chilean investors to choose Uruguay, it was basically thinking that business in Chile had slowed down a lot. There were many political and economic situations that caused a little more caution on the part of investors. Many of them decided to start investing in North America and our eyes were opened two years ago, when we began to understand a little how Uruguay is pro foreign investment and understand the country’s institutional framework, which worked fantastically and we decided to come there. The main focus was to replicate the real estate business.
At first, we thought of all this migration that we discovered researching, reading and, of course, we also have contact outside… the arrival of Europeans in the area of Maldonado. Waiter It stands out because it seems to have stopped in time with this beautiful architecture that caught the attention of many. That is why we said, the Argentine already “took” Uruguay a long time ago and that is another type of market that obviously we are not going to make a difference to, but let’s see what happens with this European who wants to settle.
Jose Tomas Fernandez – It is that Pueblo Garzón has a characteristic of a very well-kept and picturesque glamor and we want to maintain it. We do not want to arrive as real estate developers wanting to impose a new trend or fashion. We want to get to contribute to the area, we want to get to give it value, to contribute to the delivery of value of Garzón, maintaining the DNA of its picturesque architecture, attracting people who like the good level of the simple, calm and country. We do not want to generate an overpopulation revolution. And that is where we are aiming, we want it to be a friendly development business, with good coexistence among those who buy, a good relationship between the new client that arrives and with the people who have been living in the sector for a long time so as not to create discomfort.

– How is the investment developed and divided?
Carlos Pinto- We have a master investment plan that is 20 million dollars, which is basically an investment intention on the part of the people who invest with Punto Investment here in Chile. And we have a first period that is a little simpler and short-term, a pilot plan that is the farms, which are subdivisions that can be sold relatively quickly. For the second year, something more sophisticated is coming, which would be private neighborhoods. Those are going to be ready in the next two or three years with an agricultural part as well. In the future we do not rule out the possibility of having a small boutique vineyard with a beautiful architecture that respects the shape of Garzón.
– Are there already investor concerns? What profile do they have?
Carlos Pinto- There’s a Argentinianthat I cannot mention the name, well known who is living today in Punta del Este, who had the intention of making a higher offer for the complete projectThat was our first interested party. Now a very curious thing happened. Chileans were interested, but they turned to Uruguay. They did not even arrive directly through Chile, but through our real estate partner, which is the Canepa real estate agency, and there is an Austrian and a person from New Zealandwho are also interested in buying a farm unit.
Uruguay has a very good reception in that sense. We see that there is a institutional tranquility, where security seduces investors, we have clients who are always asking us what kind of products we have to make placements. The investor profile is businessmen, young people who have good positions in companies who want to make investments together with us so that their money can generate profits. There is also, for example, a profile of people who are retired, who also seek to protect their money in this type of investment. Real estate investment, we all know the security it has.
Jose Tomas Fernandez – We raised the investment fund in February and only in March did we begin to advertise, we had a circuit of public roads in the area between The bar and Jose Ignacio with advertising and that of course made these potential customers arrive. Now our Uruguayan partners have just closed an agreement with a Spanish company that has a network of 80,000 real estate agencies around Europe, to which this project will enter in the coming weeks.
