The rice sector is one of the few that will receive good news after a drought that shook the axes of agriculture, with the large ones in the region – Argentina and Brazil – with large losses, as well as in Europe and Asiarice growers seek to position themselves strongly in the world market.

The losses due to the drought in Argentina and Brazil, and with an international price of rice that has been rising continuously, from the sector they estimate to have values that exceed those reached last year. At the beginning of April, meetings began between the Rice Growers Association and the industry to define the final price for the 2021/22 harvest. The provisional price was set at $11.45 per 50-kilo bag, but it is likely that said value will improve in view of the final price. In terms of exports, the industry has sold 20% of the harvest so far, with good prices.
So far, the yields have been very good and there is optimism to exceed 9,000 kilos at the country level for the third time in a row —and in history. In fact, it is estimated that a figure close to that of last year, which closed in 9,300 kilos per hectare.
