The Mauthausen Committee, the Upper Austria. Network against racism and right-wing extremism and numerous other organizations invite you to commemorate the victims of National Socialism on May 5th at 6:30 p.m. in front of the memorial in Stillfüssing near Waizenkirchen. It is also an opening act for the redesigned grave of 13 fallen soldiers of the Waffen-SS, which used to be a place of pilgrimage for neo-Nazis.

After much criticism, the Ministry of the Interior arranged for the redesign and correct contextualisation in 2021. The memorial now clearly refers to the crimes of the Waffen SS and the murder of millions of people by the Nazis. Nevertheless, the site remains a dignified grave for the fallen, whose direct personal involvement in the atrocities committed by the Waffen SS is not documented. Ten of them were only 17 or 18 years old at the time of their death.

Robert Eiter, spokesman for Upper Austria, will introduce the day of remembrance. Network against racism and right-wing extremism. There will then be speeches by Charlotte Hermann, President of the Jewish Community in Linz, Jakob Ulbrich, Vice President of the Catholic Action Upper Austria, and Willi Mernyi, Chairman of the Mauthausen Committee Austria. SP Member of Parliament Thomas Antlinger has the final word. Mayor Fabian Grüneis (VP) is unable to attend due to an appointment collision. The commemoration will be musically framed by Pichler Truhlar Music.
