“She is the elected chairwoman and it goes without saying for me to support her and to avoid anything that could affect our success,” said Fischer in a double interview with Rendi-Wagner in Sunday’s “Krone”. He also agrees with her in terms of content and appreciates her as a person.

An overview of who openly supports whom:

So far, Fischer had avoided a clear recommendation for the SPÖ member survey that started on Monday and only indirectly supported Rendi-Wagner (“I am in the team loyalty and reason”). He continues to stand up for “Team Loyalty”: “As I understand it, it deserves the support of all those who are interested in the joint success of this party.”

Lindner will vote for Doskozil

The Upper Austrian state party chairman Michael Lindner, on the other hand, confirmed to the APA on Sunday that he would vote for Hans Peter Doskozil in the survey. By disclosing his voting behavior, he wanted to call for calm and make it clear that it was about something bigger than party sensitivities. Lindner emphasized: “There is no time for experiments now. May 11 (end of the survey, note) and June 3 (party congress, note) must calm down. The one with the most votes in the survey is the /the candidate,” says Lindner. “That’s why I expect the third candidate to commit to this fixed principle of this member survey,” he said in the direction of Andreas Babler.

On the other hand, there is no official definition from Lower Austria’s SPÖ boss Sven Hergovich, who is considered a supporter of the Burgenland governor Hans Peter Doskozil. He already knows who he’s voting for, but doesn’t want to say that, Hergovich said in the “Presse am Sonntag”. “I see myself as a kind of wing connector, so I have a special responsibility and don’t make any recommendations.”
