Caroline Cossepolitical reference for the Broad Front and mayor of Montevideoreferred to the projects of the official coalition and established that the joint tenure seems to him a “barbarity” and repeated again that the social security project is “regressive”.

“This supposed law of co-responsibility, of shared responsibility seems outrageous to me, it seems outrageous to me,” insisted the mayor of Montevideo to the Underlined outlet in an act to commemorate eight militants murdered in April 1972.

Cosse criticized that the project, approved this past Thursday in deputies and that it needs to return to the Senate to vote on the modifications made, it violates the gender-based violence law. “What a shame that we are carrying out a law that actually tacitly repeals aspects that have to do with the gender-based violence law and that truly the position of the mother, of the women, with respect to the possession of the children, disappears”, remarked the official.

On the other hand, he spoke about the conflict seen for a few weeks within the coalition, regarding the changes promoted by Town meeting and, subsequently, by Colorado Party. “Supposedly it had been worked with consensus and a lot of dialogue and it turns out that we have just lived through the last month with very tense negotiations within the government coalition itself. So you see that there was not so much dialogue”, sentenced Cosse.

The mayor referred to the conditions of the social security project and considered them “absolutely regressive for the workers of today and tomorrow.” On the other hand, she established that the reform is “only tied to the pension and poorly tied” and that it has taken into account “the profound concepts of social security”.

The general project of the social security reform will be voted this Monday at ten in the morning in the plenary of Deputies and this Tuesday the particular vote on the articles will take place. If approved, the project will return to the Senate for final approval due to the changes made by the coalition.
