Calf rescued from manure pit

The animal had fallen through a small opening into the manure pit. Together with the owner, 23 firefighters from Förolach and Hermagor were able to rescue the calf unharmed. To do this, a firefighter wearing respiratory protection equipment climbed into the cesspool to join the calf and fitted belts with which his comrades could lift it up.

Kalb swam across the Danube and was shot

In Saxen (Perg district), a calf weighing around 300 kilograms fled across the Danube to Lower Austria on Saturday. The animal was shot because of imminent danger. You can read more about this in the following report:

Kronstorf: Farmer found dead in cesspool

A 65-year-old fell into the cesspool on his farm in the Linz-Land district and died. Relatives alerted the fire brigade when they discovered gloves next to the manure pit.
