The secretary of Presidency, Alvaro Delgadoassured in a press conference that “it is impossible to follow the situation of the dollar in Argentina“, in relation to the exchange gap that exists between the two countries, being a “very difficult” task for the Executive power equating the price differences that the inhabitants of the border towns can access.

According to Delgado, this week several government agencies will surely be meeting to monitor the border economic context. In turn, he indicated that the Executive Branch is studying to establish additional measures to those it has already taken, “to generate more encouragement“, with the purpose that” some people do not cross the border, and generate other types of purchases.

Delgado was optimistic and believes that the measures could even cause some Argentines to cross into the Uruguay for certain goods and services. However, he recalled that “we had two chemically pure years because the borders were closed and no one could cross“, but now due to the exchange rate gap this is happening “in reverse”, since people leave the country en masse.

When asked about the reduction of the Internal Specific Tax (imesi), the Secretary of the Presidency, assured that it is something that is under observation, but he preferred not to “be blunt” in a definition, since “some calculations in this regard, up to the percentage” are still being made.
