Since late autumn 2022, the Linz Zoo has been home to the rare livestock breed, the Blobe goat. Efforts to preserve this animal species were recently successful: the goat quartet Mara, Lina, Karlotta and Darius were joined by offspring.

Planned conservation breeding

The term “blobe goats” comes from the Tyrolean and means “blue”. This is highly endangered. Since 2007, the Tyrolean Goat Breeding Association has therefore been conducting systematic conservation breeding, working together with the “Blobe Goas” association and Arche. The Linzer Tiergarten also makes its contribution.
