He drove his car into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car. The Croatian died at the scene of the accident and three other people were injured. The wife of the accident driver had to be brought to the UKH Salzburg by rescue helicopter with serious injuries.
Thrown 25 meters into the meadow
The Croatian had hit another truck with his car – coming from Liezen towards Schladming at around 2:15 p.m. – before there was a head-on collision with the car driving behind it. This car was thrown 25 meters into the meadow. The driver, a 58-year-old man from Innsbruck, and his passenger – a 56-year-old from the Hall in Tirol district – suffered injuries of an unspecified degree. They were taken to the Schladming hospital by ambulance.
Daughter cared for by crisis intervention team
The driver of the truck, a 39-year-old man from Mongolia, was not injured, although he lost control of his vehicle and also ended up in the adjacent meadow. The Croatian couple’s daughter, who lives in Austria, was informed and a crisis intervention team was called upon, the police said. The B320 was closed to all traffic for two hours.
