The government of Brazil denounced this Monday a conspiracy of top generals and military who were part of the former president’s cabinet Jair Bolsonaro with the omission of the security forces to protect the Planalto Palace, the government house, in the massive assault on January 8 perpetrated by Bolsonarista activists to request a coup.
This was stated by the Vice Minister of Justice, Ricardo Cappeli, and the Minister of Social Communication, Paulo Pimenta, commenting on the images released by the Institutional Security Cabinet on Sunday, which captured the inaction of the military in charge of defending the Planalto on January 8.
The assault on the headquarters of powers on January 8 gained a new chapter after the resignation of President Lula da Silva’s Institutional Security Cabinet minister, retired general Marco Gonçalves Dias, last week, after images of the interior of the Planalto Palace on the afternoon of January 8.

In that sense, Cappelli accused the former head of the Bolsonaro GSI, the retired general Augustus Hellenus, a defender of the military dictatorship, for having left the body in a position to carry out “conspiracies” against Lula.
He also included in a message on social networks the former chief of staff and former Defense Minister, General Walter Braga Nettocandidate for Bolsonaro’s vice in the 2022 elections defeated by Lula.
“I know what I saw and heard in command of the troops on January 8. It is not possible to falsify the facts by creating a historical narrative as the flat-earth extremists try to do. Where are Heleno and Braga Neto? If there is a coup plotter and general, certainly not the honorable general Dias”Cappeli wrote.
Cappeli was the controller of the Brasilia police after the coup attempt because that force liberated the area to allow the coup leaders to advance to the Three Powers square.
The images released by the government show how the soldiers who had to defend the Planalto laughed when they saw the vandals go by and others gave them water.
Soldiers linked to Jair Bolsonaro
