Hopes were high at UVC McDonald’s Ried to achieve the greatest success in the club’s history with third place in the Bundesliga. Ultimately, however, TSV Hartberg was one size too big in the game for third place. In the home game, Rieder gave up a 2:0 set lead and lost 2:3.
In the second game, the Innviertlers had no chance in Hartberg and had to admit defeat with 0:3 (23:25, 12:25, 19:25). “It’s very disappointing that we couldn’t win a medal. We’ve trained hard all season and have always performed as a team. But we’ll come back even stronger next season,” says UVC-Ried-Libero Lauris Ochaya.
More than small consolation for the Rieders is the fact that they will start again in the European Volleyball Cup in autumn.
