He Senate voted this Wednesday the call for interpellation of two ministers due to the management of water during the drought that hit the Uruguaya call made by the broad front yesterday to the vice president Beatriz Argimon.

The Broad Front requested the call through the bench and it was manifested this past Tuesday night to the Vice President of the Republic and President of the Chamber of Senators, Beatriz Argimón. Senator Enrique Rubio presented the motion for the meeting of the Environment Ministers, Robert Bouvierand that of Public Health, Karina Rando. An order that, later, will be transferred to the directory of the National Administration of State Sanitary Works (OSE).

“We Uruguayans suffer a drought situation. It has given rise to a relatively critical situation in terms of the provision and availability of drinking water for the metropolitan region,” explained Rubio. The senator explained that the motion was made because they are “concerned about the problem of water management the crisis, and due to the need to have abundant and reassuring information”.

With the aim of foreseeing possible scenarios, and in the event that it does not rain as OSE is speculating, the senator expressed the need for the questioning of the Ministry of the Environment, but also of the Ministry of Public Health because the endorsement of this to raise the salinity levels of the water, something that has not yet happened.

A week ago, the Frente Amplio senator published on his social networks that the OSE had not reported that the water crisis was continuing, a comment that arose from the administration’s decision to raise the salinity levels of the water. “The state of confusion is great. They did not report that the crisis was continuing. There is no known Public Health report authorizing the increase in parameters. They did not clarify what is drinkable and what is not. What affects human health and what does not. They will have to explain it to Parliament,” the senator tweeted.
