Russia on Thursday accused the United States of masterminding the drone attack on the Kremlin. At the same time, they pointed out the “use” of Ukraine as an armed wing to carry out sabotage actions on Russian territory.
The strong accusations arose from the comments of Dmitri Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, one of the men in President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle. Hours after the incident, from Washington, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called for “prudence” and calmed the spirits regarding the investigation into the incidents.
Russia pointed to the US as the intellectual author of the attacks on the Kremlin
of being behind the alleged attack on the Kremlin and denounced that Ukraine’s acts of sabotage on its territory had an “unprecedented” scale.
“Decisions for these types of attacks are not made in kyiv, but in Washington,” spokesman Peskov said. “kyiv only does what they are told,” the Russian official continued in his remarks to the press.
The Kremlin spokesman warned harshly that “Washington must clearly understand that we know this,” he added.
Peskov gave more details of what happened this Wednesday, when the Russian security system deactivated an attack by two drones on the Kremlin, the Russian government palace, where Putin was.
The spokesman assured that Putin was working normally from the Kremlin this Thursday, but indicated that the security of the compound was going to be “reinforced” after this incident supposedly occurred between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
He also indicated that planned security in Moscow will be increased ahead of the World War II Victory Day celebrations scheduled for next week.
“Of course, everything is going to be reinforced. Everything has already been reinforced for the Victory Day parade,” Peskov told reporters.
Russia also reported a series of attacks on oil installations and on the rail network that led to the derailment of a train. The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that it is facing an “unprecedented” wave of Ukrainian “terrorist activities” and “sabotage” on its territory.
“The terrorist and sabotage activities of the Ukrainian armed forces are taking on an unprecedented scale,” the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced in a statement.
In the text, the ministry warned that Russia “reserves the right to take retaliatory measures.”
