A 20-year-old got into an argument with a 33-year-old from Lower Austria. The younger is said to have stabbed the older in the eye with an umbrella, as OÖN reported. The alleged perpetrator was then taken into custody.
The investigations into intentionally causing serious bodily harm are still ongoing, says Andreas Pechatschek from the Steyr public prosecutor’s office when asked by OÖN. One problem is that the victim is “difficult to agree to,” the 33-year-old has so far not been able to remember what happened in the bar, which may have something to do with his severe brain injury, says the spokesman for the authorities.
The written report of the forensic medicine is still pending. “We’re still waiting to see if the memory might come back.” The 20-year-old could face up to 15 years in prison.
