S-Bahn failure in Vienna because an important employee is ill

Because a dispatcher fell ill, there was an S-Bahn failure between Meidling and Hütteldorf on Monday. Passengers were advised to switch to Wiener Linien, ÖBB tickets are accepted.

The cancellation of the Vienna connecting railway between Hütteldorf and Meidling is due to a dispatcher who was ill at Meidling station. He could not be appropriately replaced.

Why dispatchers are difficult to replace

The dispatchers are very well-trained specialists who, in addition to comprehensive basic training, must also have precise knowledge of the local conditions at the station and how the local safety system works, the ÖBB informed. For safety reasons, not every dispatcher can be deployed to every duty station at short notice.
