Vehicle sales in April fell by 9.3%becoming the second month of the year where low are perceived purchase, being cars and utility vehicles the ones with the highest negative index compared to the month of March.

According to the monthly report of the Automotive Trade Association (ACAU), in the month of April a total of 3,958 vehicles were sold – considering cars, SUVs, minibuses, light utility vehicles, trucks and buses – registering a drop of 9.3% compared to the month of March. Compared to the same period last year, where 4,361 vehicles were sold, it was down 9% year-on-year.

In the automobile category, sold 1,818 vs. 2,296 that were sold in the same month last year, representing a year-on-year drop of 20.8%. The two best-selling brands were Chevrolet with 421 vehicles sold and suzuki with 401. These were followed by Hyundai and Peugeot with 197 and 183 cars sold, respectively.

The light utility also suffered a year-on-year drop of 8.5%, compared to April last year as they were sold 982 vs. 1074with the Fiat and Renault brands being the best sellers with 247 and 195 sales, respectively.

In contrast, the sports utilityor commonly called SUVs, registered an interannual increase of 19% in the month of April – 946 compared to 795 last year – where the best-selling brand was Volkswagen with 233 sales and the second – well below the first – with 76 .
