The youth had previously been found guilty of killing a 14-year-old boy with a long knife through multiple stabs in London in November 2021. Surveillance camera footage showed the perpetrator stabbing the victim, who was lying on the ground, several times.
The judge at London’s Old Bailey criminal court imposed a minimum sentence of 19 years. Early dismissal is excluded. “You will not be automatically released after serving the minimum sentence, but only if the parole board decides you are no longer a threat,” the judge said.
Knife violence among young people has been a massive problem in London and other parts of the UK for many years. Victims and perpetrators are mostly young males.
