The Traunsee Week of Sailors starts today at 12 noon in front of the SC Altmünster with the first of eight races planned until Sunday in class h26. A dozen Austrian crews are chasing the father-son team Josef and Florian Schwarz from Germany, who otherwise sail against each other in separate boats but act as a team on the Traunsee.
Tomorrow and Sunday the “Goldene Yngling” will be sailed in Altmünster. One of the favorites is defending champion Stefan Frauscher, who is again at the start with Josef Weinhofer and Christian Spießberger for the Union Yacht Club Traunsee.
Also starting tomorrow, Gmunden will be fighting for the European Championship title in the four-man mainsail class Surprise. The organizer is ASKÖ Gmunden Segeln (AGS). Until Tuesday, 22 boats from five nations will compete in twelve planned races for the European title. The Surprise State Championship will be held on Ascension Day weekend.
