“For Obernberg, this project is a step towards the future that will enormously strengthen our region as a living and economic area,” says Obernberg’s Mayor Martin Bruckbauer at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Austrian Fiber Optic Infrastructure Company (öGIG).
“As a community in rural areas, we benefit in the long term from reliable Internet,” says Obernberg’s local manager.
“We are pleased about the start of construction. In Obernberg we are realizing our first construction project in the Ried district and are laying a total of 45 km of lines,” says öGIG Managing Director Hartwig Tauber. For the öGIG it is the second start of construction in the Innviertel. The first ground-breaking ceremony was recently held in Münzkirchen. 1100 households are reached by the öGIG in Obernberg through the one hundred percent self-sufficient expansion.
Completion by summer 2024
Together with the construction company Hitthaller+Trixl Baugesellschaft mbH, the öGIG is pursuing a specific timetable: the entire project should be completed by summer 2024. Wilfried Schinnerl from Hitthaller+Trixl confirms: “We are very pleased to be able to participate in this future project for the municipality of Obernberg. Together with the öGIG, we will quickly and successfully complete the fiber optic expansion.”
