“We’re used to completely different situations.” Firefighters in Steyr still see the current situation calmly. “The water is not an issue at the moment,” says Fire Councilor Ari Hahn, who, as an officer on duty, keeps an eye on the situation. A water level of 4.30 meters was measured on Tuesday morning at the local quay, and around 4.50 meters can be expected by noon. The Baderweg was closed for safety reasons – but for Ortskai and Ennskai there is no danger from the current perspective (as of 9 a.m.). The precipitation is already subsiding and the feeder rivers from the Ennstal are also declining.
The first level of flood protection was set up yesterday in Schärding based on the incoming forecasts. It is currently expected that the Inn will either just or just not overflow its banks at the height of the Innlände. The wave is expected to peak in the afternoon. “We are prepared for all possibilities. But we don’t expect flooding.” Furtner expects the Innn level to peak in the range of 450 to 500 cm.
