Other axes that will be part of the work sessions are the possible introduction of a global tax of 15% to multinationals; the resolution of asymmetries in the distribution of vaccines against the coronavirus and the adoption of global measures to ensure global growth after the pandemic.
Amid tight security measures across Rome, this weekend’s summit marks the first participation of the US president Joe Biden in a G20 to which, however, the leaders of Russia will not participate in person, Vladimir Putin; from China, Xi Jinping; nor those of Mexico, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
The summit will also be the last of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who will leave power after 16 years.
Yesterday, before the formal start of the summit, several leaders began the series of bilateral meetings characteristic of international forums.
