Just one day after Pascal Ackermann (UAE) won, German cycling fans had reason to celebrate again at the 106th Giro d’Italia. Nico Denz (Bora) won the twelfth stage over 185 kilometers from Bra to Rivoli and celebrated the biggest win of his career so far.
He was part of an initial group of 30 people, but in the end he easily left his two remaining companions Toms Skujins (Trek) and Sebastian Berwick (Israel) behind in the final sprint.
Geraint Thomas (Ineos) defended the pink jersey before today’s mountain finish in Crans-Montana without any problems. Lukas Pöstlberger also gave the all-clear after his fall on Tuesday. “Nothing broken, no concussion,” the 31-year-old posted before yesterday’s stage.
