After seven points from the last three games, SK Verwarts Steyr suffered a setback in the fight for relegation in the second division. The basement duel at Sturm Graz II was lost 0:2 after conceding late goals.
A shot by Sandro Schendl was deflected into the goal by Steyr defender David Bumberger to make it 0-1 for the Black and Whites (85′), two minutes later Antonio Ilic scored to make it 0-2. In the early stages of the first half, the Styrians missed a penalty through Milan Toth.
For coach Daniel Madlener’s team, the situation in the fight to stay up has worsened: Two laps before the end of the season, Steyr is in penultimate place – two points behind a non-relegation zone.
