As reported by OÖ Nachrichten, work on the expansion joints and the tram rails will affect the traffic situation around the Nibelungen Bridge by mid-June. Since last Wednesday, drivers have only had two lanes in each direction.

The early traffic showed the consequences this morning: there were extensive traffic jams on the way to the city of Linz. On the B127, the Rohrbacher Bundesstraße, the convoy had already reached Puchenau by seven in the morning. Motorists had to put up with a loss of time of up to an hour.

Closure of one lane until June 12th

According to the state of Upper Austria, the closure of one lane on the Nibelungen Bridge is expected to last until June 12 at 4 a.m. During the night there may be a reduction to one lane.

The tram runs without restrictions on weekdays, i.e. Monday to Friday, and a rail replacement service is set up on the weekends.

At the same time, this is also preparatory work for the future general renovation of the Nibelungen Bridge, which, however, is only to be carried out after the completion of the West Ring Bridge and thus in autumn 2024.
