The suspects are likely to have broken into a jewelry store in the shopping center and set the car on fire, police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner confirmed on request from media reports. An alarm search was negative. Cobra and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) were also deployed. The alarm went off at around 3:45 a.m., Schwaigerlehner reported. After the burglary, Cobra and SIG searched the building, but the perpetrators were able to escape. The State Criminal Police Office has started an investigation. The area around the crime scene has been cordoned off.
During the operation, the area around the shopping center remained closed. “The SCS will open regularly,” said a spokesman for the shopping center to the APA. Entrance 5 will remain closed.
