Pamela Rendi-Wagner will probably act as party leader and club chairwoman for the Social Democrats for the last time. With that, she can explain herself why her parliamentary group is opposed to the two-thirds decision of the Energy Efficiency Act. The SPÖ wants to enforce anti-inflation measures and therefore no longer agree to legislative proposals from the governing parties.

To the live stream:

From the point of view of the coalition, the law should help to achieve national and EU-wide climate goals by reducing energy consumption in Austria by 18 percent by 2030. Funding of EUR 190 million per year for households and companies is planned for this purpose. Austria is in default in this matter, there is already a threat of a fine from the EU. But one would still have to convince either SPÖ or FPÖ for a decision. Neither of which was evident in the end.

It starts on Wednesday with “Current Hours”, for which NEOS and FPÖ determine the topics. Both are aimed at Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). The Liberals rely on inflation with the title: “Price freeze – tax freeze – sanctions freeze! When will the government finally take measures against the cost avalanche?” The current Europe hour on security (“Off to the United States of Europe”) belongs to the NEOS. An amendment to the Waste Management Act, for example, is then decided, which aims to increase transparency in order to prevent the use of food. The referendum “For unrestricted cash payments” is being debated.
