8,292 square meters will be used as building land, another 4,162 square meters will be dedicated to a park. The area is part of a 25,000 square meter, currently undeveloped area near the ÖAMTC base in Wels. In the future, a separate district with numerous residential and apartment buildings, including a park, is to be created there.
The Greens criticized the measure. “Here we can see that we are not putting a stop to soil sealing,” said Greens mandatary Walter Teubl. On the one hand, the need for apartments in Wels is not clearly proven, on the other hand, valuable land is being sealed.
